About Black Oak
Black Oak Pathways brings an experienced external perspective and an internal commitment to the organizations it advises.

Founder & Principal Advisor
Maria Fabiola is an executive strategist and advisor with 28 years of leadership across higher education, institutional growth, strategic communications, reputation, crisis counsel, public institutions, and international development.
Her work has spanned the United States, Latin America, and Spain. That cross-cultural and cross-sector experience allows her to see connections that often remain hidden inside organizational boundaries.
She completed her master's degree at The Ohio State University as a Fulbright Scholar, from 1999 to 2001. Her thesis research was supported by a Tinker Foundation grant.
She created Black Oak Pathways to help leaders define the real challenge, make better decisions, align the people who must move, and build strategies their organizations can own.

Why Black Oak exists
Black Oak begins by listening, mapping the system, and testing what everyone assumes to be true. It then works with leadership to build a strategy grounded in the organization’s reality.
Fresh eyes for what has become difficult to see from within.
Strategies built with the organization for ownership and execution.
Context and fluency across institutions, markets, languages, and cultures.
